Do you want to learn how to become a better animator from one of the most renowned directors in the field? Come and get trade secrets and advice from the award-winning director and head of our jury Phil Mulloy. Bring your films, portfolio and burning questions to De Balie and ask away!!

KLIXposition: AnimationChiellerie!

Feast your eyes on big iconic drawings, a 2D/3D animation installation, small doodles, exquisite illustrations and background art from new animation films at the AnimationChiellerie, the special festival gallery with artwork that shares its imagery with animation.

For eight days in a row works of animators, illustrators, comic artists and cartoonists are for sale at affordable prices, so don't pass up the chance to pick up an original masterpiece! The gallery shop will also sell t-shirts, screen prints and smaller work from your favourite artist.

BNO is the Beroepsorganisatie voor Nederlandse Ontwerpers, the premier branch organization for Dutch designers.

BNO's Anouk Siegelaar talks about copyright issues in the animation sector and presents an interesting case as an example.

Games & Animation

On the frontier:
Young (Dutch) game makers and animators present their projects. Projects that balance on the edge between games and animation. Do we call them artistic games or interactive animations? That's just semantics. It's innovative work.

Would you like a sneak peek into the world of the artistic, independent gaming but don't have the stamina to work it all out by yourself?
Let us entertain you with this presentation of gameplay from the award winning games that are featured in the KLIK & Play cabinets. The big cinema screen will bring out their inherent beauty and show them in full glory.
Maybe you will be tempted to give gaming a try yourself afterwards.

Childrens Matinee

Sunday 20 september is Kids Day! For the entire afternoon the Foyer and cinemas of Kriterion will be a playground with loads of fun activities: Learn how to build your own Robot, express yourself in the Cotton Candy Moulding Contest, make animations with the animation Machine, draw cartoons, have your face painted and listen and watch as the maker of KIDDO will bring his beautiful puppets to explain how an stop motion film is made.

In the cinemas the best films for kids! KLIK! put together an exciting program, along with a program of Nickelodeon's cream of the crop and a few premières of new animation series as well!

Do-it-yourself

DIY-stylee! At KLIK! we'll challenge you to do more than sit on your caboose and passively watch films. We're going to inspire you to creative greatness with all our activities that often result in acquiring a unique souvenir!

Talks: Political Animation

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Balie will host screenings where two guests will screen around fifteen minutes of politically motivated animated films each and discuss the footage with the audience.

Continuous Festival Fun

Free cotton candy: your daily sugar rush, brought to you by our cotton candy cuties!
We'll also hold a cotton candy molding contest.
For those concerned about hygiene: we only use the freshest cotton candy, plucked from the cotton candy bush every morning.

Cutting Table: During the festival we'll project a number of films outside the regular program in the cozy Cutting Table Cabinet in the foyer of Kriterion.

 
 
KIDDO Presentation

Kolja Saksida, stop motion animator, will give a presentation about the making of his new stop motion film KIDDO. He will answer all your questions about the film and will give you an inside look of how KIDDO came together.
