Meet the special guests and jury members of KLIK! Amsterdam 2009.

 
Phil Mulloy

Jury member

The award-winning independent animator Phil Mulloy has been successfully subverting impressionable minds for almost twenty years, lampooning organized religion, racism and politics. He will be present at the screenings of his work and will host a workshop and hold a Q&A at one of the screenings as well. His films hold up a fun house mirror to mankind's darkest desires, making the audience laugh as well as squirm in their seats.

Dennis Nyback

Jury Member

Dennis Nyback is an American film historian and independent exhibitor who has salvaged countless films from the jaws of obscurity in order to give them a new life on the silver screen. He'll present two programs in which he'll screen classic rarely seen titillating animated films from 1929 through to 1970 and
politically very incorrect cartoons from the forties that are guaranteed to offend a wide range of people.

Gerrit van Dijk

Jury Member

Gerrit van Dijk is an iconic Dutch animator who has been active in the art of animation since 1972. He is one of the founders of the Netherlands Institute for Animation (NIAF) in Tilburg and his films I Move, Therefore I Am and Pas a Deux have been awarded the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. Queen Beatrix has awarded him with a Knighthood in the Order of the Dutch Lion for his work.

Tomm Moore

Tomm Moore is the director of our feature première Brandon and the Secret of Kells. He, together with producer Ross Murray, will be present at the première for a Q&A session with the audience and they'll give a presentation on the production process of Brendan before the second screening.

Uri Kranot

This Israeli film maker is not afraid to question the status quo as his films "God on Our Side" and "The Heart of Amos Klein" can attest. Both films were screened at the KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival in 2008. He has been an artist in residence at the Netherlands Institute for Animated Film in Tilburg. He now presides in Denmark where he also teaches at the Animation Workshop.

Christoffel Manders

Christoffel Manders is a teacher of animation and film at the St. Joost Academy in Breda. He previously worked for the Netherlands Institute for Animation (NIAF) and he routinely gives talks and lectures both in the Netherlands and abroad. He'll present a selection of the very earliest politically motivated animations on Friday night.

Jon Frickey & Till Penzek

Guest Speakers

Jon Frickey studied communication design at the HAW Hamburg from 1999 to 2004. In 2006, he received his diploma in communication design.
Till Penzek studied free art at the HfbK Hamburg from 1999 to 2000 and communication design at the HAW Hamburg from 2001 to 2006.
Since 2006 they've worked together in the field of design and animation under the name of SFA.

And we would personally like to thank them for making radiation poisoning cute again!

Amir Admoni

Amir Admoni is a graphic designer from Brazil who got a master of arts degree at the Sandberg institute in Amsterdam. During his 3 year stay, he filmed scenes of daily life in Amsterdam. An added layer of CGI turns the film into a witty satire of Dutch immigration policies. Amir Admoni will present his newest film and will contribute to the political program.

Olaf Encke

Olaf Encke studied animation at the Konrad Wolf Academy of Film & Television and he is the director of the delightfully irreverent film Judas & Jesus. He will talk about the film and the problems he has encountered regarding censorship and controversy.

Stop motion animator Kolja Saksida will give a presentation about the making of his new stop motion film KIDDO. He will answer all your questions about the film and give you an inside look of how KIDDO came together on Sunday at 15:00 hrs in the Foyer of Kriterion.
