An Introduction to KLIK!
The KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival is an accessible platform for animation in the broadest sense of the word. From the 12th to the 14th of September Kriterion, the ground breaking cinema that has been run by students for the past sixty years, will host a true multimedia festival that will screen animated shorts from all over the world, combined with interactive gaming fun, fascinating animated sidebar activities and the finest festivities.

KLIK! has received more than 80 animated films from 15 seperate countries from all over the world, from Russia to the United States, from Finland to Hungary and from France to India.
Besides a student competition and an open competition, KLIK! will screen the most memorable and impressive recent animated films of the past year in our panorama-programmes.
The Dutch Institute for Animation Film (NIAF) will compile a special programme celebrating their 15th anniversary for KLIK!
The Blender Foundation will present the Dutch Open Source animation films Elephant's Dream and Big Buck Bunny together with a presentation and a Q&A by the pioneering creative minds that made these films.
Besides admiring animated films on the big screen, our visitors will also be stimulated to get interactive with our KLIK! & Play gaming programming and the always atmospheric enlivenment of our animation acts and attractions.
I Amsterdam supports KLIK!
Good news everyone: I Amsterdam supports KLIK! The KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival is also supported by the Dutch Institute for Animated Film, which will celebrate it's 15th anniversary with a programme especially compiled for KLIK! Ben & Jerry's will treat our visitors to delicious ice cream and the French software company TV Paint has graciously supplied us with two copies of the newest edition of TV Paint as prizes for the winning films. Other supporters of KLIK! are Kunstbende, the Amsterdam Weekly, Filmhuis Cavia, Filmtheater Kriterion, 4 Weeks of FreeDesigndom, Filmfocus.nl, the Waag Society, The Saints, de Nieuwe Anita, the Pan-European Film Network Nisi Masa and it's Dutch branch, MeccaPANZA.
Extended deadline for submissions

2nd of August: Scarface Swear-A-Long in de Nieuwe Anita!
On the 2nd of August we take the formative gangster epic of the Eighties out for a new, interactive spin. During the Scarface Swear-A-Long you can sip on a Cuba Libre, with a fat cigar in the corner of your mouth and clad in your loudest Hawaii-shirt and swear away all your woes together with Tony Montana, the psychotic bellowing bullfrog from Cuba in a maniacally intense performance by Al Pacino. It's like politically incorrect karaoke. Afterwards, shake your stuff to the best oldschool eighties records while gamers play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for visual fun and entertainment. Come on down and bring along your little friend! The location: De Nieuwe Anita, Frederik Hendrikstraat 111, starts at 8, 5 €.

Introductie KLIK! Amsterdam Animatie Festival
Het KLIK! Amsterdam Animatie Festival is een toegankelijk platform voor animatie in de breedste zin van het woord. Van 12 tot en met 14 september zullen we in Kriterion, de roemruchte bioscoop waar al meer dan zestig jaar studenten de dienst uitmaken, een multimediaal festival organiseren waar van korte animatiefilms uit alle hoeken van de wereld, interactief gamevermaak, fascinerende randanimatie en fijne festiviteiten te genieten is.
Programmainformatie
KLIK! Amsterdam heeft inmiddels al meer dan 80 animatiefilms ontvangen uit 15 verschillende landen, van Rusland tot de Verenigde Staten, van Finland tot Hongarije en van Frankrijk tot India.
Naast een studentencompetitie en een open competitie zullen we in enkele panorama-programma’s de meest memorabele en recente animatiefilms van het afgelopen jaar vertonen.
Het Nederlands Instituut voor Animatiefilm (NIAF) stelt ter ere van hun 15-jarig bestaan een speciaal jubileum-programma samen.
Op KLIK! Zal de Blender Foundation de Nederlandse Open Source animatiefilms Elephant’s Dream en Big Buck Bunny vertonen met een bijbehorende presentatie en Q&A van deze animatie-pioniers.
Naast animatiefilms bewonderen in de bioscoopzaal wordt de festivalbezoeker ook interactief geprikkeld met KLIK’s gaming-programmaonderdeel en de uiterst sfeerverhogende randanimatieactiviteiten.

Goed nieuws: I Amsterdam steunt KLIK! Daarnaast wordt het festival gesteund door het NIAF, dat ter ere van haar 15de verjaardag een speciaal programma samenstelt voor KLIK!, trakteert Ben & Jerry’s onze festivalgangers op gratis ijs en heeft het Franse softwarebedrijf TV Paint als prijzen voor de winnende films 2 pakketten van de nieuwste versie van TV Paint beschikbaar gesteld. De inzendtermijn is op veler verzoek van animatoren verlengd tot 15 juli 2008.
2 augustus: Scarface Swear-A-Long in de Nieuwe Anita!
Onder de noemer KLIK! & Play organiseert KLIK! het gehele jaar door activiteiten waarbij games en film gecombineerd worden in legendarische themafeesten. Na het succes van de Big Lebowski Night, waarbij de Nieuwe Anita volliep met meer dan 300 lyrische Lebowski-fans, staat op 2 augustus de volgende KLIK! & Play activiteit op de agenda.
Dan krijgt het definitieve gangsterepos van de jaren tachtig een nieuw, interactief jasje. Tijdens de Scarface Swear-A-Long kun je genietend van een Cuba Libre, met een dikke sigaar in je mondhoek en een vloekend Hawaii-shirt aan je bast meeschelden met Tony Montana, de psychopatische brulkikker uit Cuba die met weergaloze intensiteit wordt neergezet door Al Pacino. Denk karaoke, maar met alle symbooltjes uit de kijkwijzer. Daarna is er de mogelijkheid om old-school op goede foute eighties muziek de dansvloer onveilig te maken, begeleid door live game footage uit Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Komt allen, and bring along your little friend! In de Nieuwe Anita, Frederik Hendrikstraat 111, vanaf een uurtje of 8.
