At 16.00, we start running the projectors so you can settle smoothly into the lifechanging experience that is KLIK! Amsterdam.
Evening
We kick off this fabulous edition of the KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival with the Dutch premiere of the award winning feature ‘Sita Sings the Blues’.
The American animator Nina Paley mixes the ancient Hindu epic the Ramayana with a diverse selection of styles from all corners and time periods of Indian art with music from the 20’s jazz-icon Annette Henshaw and autobiographical scenes from her own life, with electrifying results.
Nighttime
DJ Dirkson pulls out his best Bollywoodtunes for a short set to get us all in the right mood.
Then, the first festival party is jumpstarted with crunchy, danceable beats by DJ-duo Beschuit accompanied by views of the life aquatic, courtesy of the Low-Tech VJ’s.

A day without animation is a day wasted. From noon onwards, enjoy the best animated films from 23 different countries, crammed into 16 programmes chockfull of animated goodness.
Your vote counts in the Student Competition, awaken your inner artist and meet the animator of your dreams.
Nighttime
In the evening, our jury will announce the winners of our Open Competition and Student Competition, as well as the prestigious Mopti Award. Then it’s time to celebrate to the tunes of DJ Hein and DJ Brother Boogaloo, while simultaneously witnessing the blood curdling VJ catfight between VJ LotteZ and VJ AINEKO.

Remember how nice it was to spend Sunday stuck to the TV screen, still wearing your cosy Spiderman/My Little Pony pajamas for a marathon session of your favorite cartoons?
Sunday afternoon is the time for a comfortable mix of golden oldies as well as some more adventurous fare. Grab your last chance to purchase a soon-to-be priceless artifact from the KLIK gallery and take in the films you missed which turned out to be the biggest hits of the fest.
Nighttime
At 20.30, we’ll bring the festival to an (un)official close with a screening of the winning films and the soothing, funky sounds of DJ Pepmenneke.

The Animators Cage
Have you always wanted to see an animator at work in his natural habitat? KLIK! has caught four magnificent specimens for our Animators Cage, to be admired and studied from a safe distance. Be sure to drop by during feeding time, when these habitually shy, reclusive creatures show themselves in all their splendor and beauty.

Are you interested yet? Dazzle everyone with your animation prowess with the Animation Machine, an installation which allows you to make animations in a quick and easy way. All the work, whether slick or daringly experimental, will be made accessible on the Internet.

During the festival, the Kriterion foyer will host a gallery filled with drawings and art work from a variety of animators and illustrators. These works are for sale for very reasonable prices and part of the proceeds will help to finance the KLIK!
