An Introduction to KLIK!
The KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival is an accessible platform for animation in the broadest sense of the word. From the 12th to the 14th of September Kriterion, the ground breaking cinema that has been run by students for the past sixty years, will host a true multimedia festival that will screen animated shorts from all over the world, combined with interactive gaming fun, fascinating animated sidebar activities and the finest festivities.

Festival Info

KLIK! has received more than 230 animated films from 26 different countries from all over the world, from Russia to the United States, from Finland to Hungary and from France to India.

Besides a student competition and an open competition, KLIK! will screen the most memorable and impressive recent animated films of the past year in our panorama-programmes.

The Dutch Institute for Animation Film (NIAF) will compile a special programme celebrating their 15th anniversary for KLIK!, while the sensitive subject of religion in animation is explored in our Deus ex Anima programme

The Blender Foundation will present the Dutch Open Source animation films Elephant's Dream and Big Buck Bunny together with a presentation and a Q&A by the pioneering creative minds that made these films. The grandmasters of pixel pleasure are represented in our Pixar shorts programme.

KLIK! will also screen a selection of contemporary Indian animation, and an exotic Bollywood atmosphere is also present in our Dutch premiere, the award winning Sita Sings the Blues by the American animator Nina Paley.
The best film in the open competition will be picked out by our professional jury, spearheaded by the Academy Award winning animator Suzie Templeton, sampling pioneer Eboman and Tonio van Vugt, founder of comic and culture magazine Zone 5300. The student competition will be judged by our audience.
Besides admiring animated films on the big screen, our visitors will also be stimulated to get interactive with our KLIK! & Play gaming programming and the always atmospheric enlivenment of our animation acts and attractions.
