In this French animated feature film, orphaned mouse Célestine ventures into the dangerous bear metropolis. She meets bear Ernest in unfortunate circumstances – he wants to eat her – but Célestine is able to persuade him not to by promising she’ll give him everything he wants. The two loners find consolation in each other and become friends, against all prejudices of their surroundings. A heartwarming story beautifully told through elegant lines and a palette of soft watercolors. Ernest et Célestine dares to be sweet and simple, distinguishing the film from most animated features being made today.
