Premiere "Deconstructing Dad" by Stan Warnow
We’re very proud to have the Dutch première of Deconstructing Dad, the excellent documentary about Raymond Scott made by the musical genius’s son, Stanley Warnow. Raymond Scott was a prolific composer, musician and inventor whose music became synonymous with animated films during the Golden Age of Animation in the ‘30s and 40’s. In the 90’s, Scott’s music had a resurgence in animation through Ren & Stimpy, Duckman and the Animaniacs. Scott was also a pioneer in electronic music, building a “simultaneous composition and performance machine” called the Electronium and acting as the mentor of Robert Moog, who went on to invent the Moog Synthesizer. In the film, a host of people including famous composer John Williams, known for his iconic music for Star Wars, Jaws and Harry Potter, trip hop turntabelist DJ Spooky and Gert Jan Blom, band leader of the revivalist band The Beau Hunks, talk about the influence Raymond Scott and his work had on their own career, while the film is at its core a story about a son reconnecting with his father. Stan Warnow will be present during and after the film for an extensive Q&A. After the film Nik Phelps and his musical entourage will start up a jam session in the spirit of Raymond Scott. / Friday 17 – Kriterion 1 – 19:45 / |

Animator Cage
It is a well known fact that animators can be shy and reclusive creatures. To give our festival visitors a unique insight in the life of an animator in his natural habitat, we’ve created the Animator Cage, which animators get locked into for two hour shifts, during which they will animate. |
The Animation Machine
Once again, our old festival favorite returns to spread the animation bug around. With just a click of a button, you can make a stop-motion animated film in a matter of minutes! Or produce an epic trilogy in a single evening, the sky is the proverbial limit. And best of all, your creation can acquire an immediate legendary status on the Internet as your film will be posted online the moment it is finished. Don’t take our word for it, go on and animate! |

Doodle Cloth
If you feel antsy after seeing all those glorious animated films in the cinema and you’re sitting in the foyer of Kriterion with an urgent desire to create, communicate or mark your territory? Look no further than our patented Doodle Cloth, where you can diddle and doodle to all your heart’s content, whilst enjoying a libation or conversing with your comrades with witty banter. |
Pecker Frames Playground
During the KLIK! festival, we bring together two of the things we love most: free beer and animation. Thanks to Vedett, we’re giving away bottles of beer with a single frame of the new Dutch short film Pecker (PIK!) on the label. You can recreate the story board or you can mix and match to create interesting juxtapositions of your own! Director Erik van Schaaik and the rest of the crew will also be available for a chat and to sign your bottle, turning it into an instant collector’s item! |

Zoetrope
The first Zoetrope was built in China in 180 AD, but our own KLIK! 3D Zoetrope traces back its creation to the devices built in the 19th century. |
