KLIK! presents KLIK! Special

(KLIK! Special was a one-day event held in 2011.)

Mark your calendars for the 5th of November!

On that date KLIK! will take over the Kriterion cinema with a special edition which is appropriately called KLIK! Special. A whole action packed day filled with presentations, workshops, discussions and of course a lot of animation, fun, food and the occasional drink.

Onbekend Maakt Onbemind

KLIK! Special will include a very special never-seen-before screening called Onbekend Maakt Onbemind, roughly translated in English as Unknown Equals Unwanted, compiled by film collector (and Klikker) Roloff de Jeu. He will host a program about these animated shorts that once were shown in cinemas from the nineteen forties until the nineties as a preview before the feature presentation, after which the practice mostly died out. These gems were consequently never seen by the next generations – until now!

Looking back and forward

Another Blast from the Past can be experienced with our Best of KLIK! program, which will feature the most memorable films we’ve screened in the previous installments of our festival. But we won’t just dwell on our past glories, as we’ll show the creamiest of the crop of contemporary Dutch animation in our patented Hollandse Nieuwe program.

Langverwachte Langspeelfilms

Besides programs with celebrated and/or exotic treats from the past, we’re going to take a bold look into the future. We’ll be taking a closer look at the state of the Dutch animation industry and discuss it in a healthy, vigorous debate. The only feature length Dutch animated film ever made is Als je Begrijpt Wat ik Bedoel? (known in English as Dexter the Dragon & Bumble the Bear. Yeah, we’re surprised about that too), which came out in 1983. But there are a host of new contenders on the horizon… At KLIK! Special, Willem Thijssen, the intendent of animated features for the Dutch Film Fund, as well as producers and filmmakers will share their stories with you concerning all the new projects and ideas for the Dutch animated features that are coming up in Langverwachte Langspelfilms.

Scriptdating

There will also be some serious Script dating, organized in cooperation with production house Mooves, which will be an event where screen writers and animators can meet up, chat and learn from each other while discussing their concepts for films.

Party

We’ll end the day how you’d expect from us… shaking our badonkadonks on the impromptu dance floor, partying hard!

And that’s not all folks! We’re still working on more interesting stuff for you to see and do, so keep checking back for updates on our website and/or our Facebook and/or Twitter. Presale starts in September.
