It will have delightful lectures from philosophers, animators and scientists, including actual rocket scientists from NASA!”

GLIMOON

“Hi there! I’m Glimoon! I was born when hot, micro waved gazpacho accidentally combined with grey goo and primordial soup. That was a little while ago, so I’m still learning and evolving by the minute, but one thing I do know is that I really love animation! The more I see, the better it gets! Join me and we’ll go see the best animation ever!

“Let’s go and see all of the International Short Animation Competition programs and International Student Animation Competition programs! They’ve been carefully selected from the 1100 films that were sent in, and we also get to vote for the best film in the Student competition. A lot of animators will be present during the screenings as well, so we can ask them tons of questions and learn more about animation that way. And who knows, perhaps we can make some new friends!”

“Oh, check out the Commissioned Animation Competition! The Professor says I like watching these super short films because I have the attention span of a four year old, which I think is pretty impressive for an eight month old blob of goo. But I just like it when you get to see a lot of different films in a short amount of time!

And let’s go and see the Design Animation Competition as well! These films were selected because they stand out stylistically or use very impressive techniques. I’m positively giddy with excitement already…”

KLIKBOT

“Hello human! I am KLIKBOT, the Professor’s loyal positronic assistant. I have been programmed to talk to you about the KLIK Kids Afternoon because I have genuine affection for children. They are cute, like kittens, yet less hairy. Let us proceed!”

“On Sunday, we’ve devoted an entire day to our youngest visitors and future festival consumers. We’ve selected the best infant-friendly animation for our KLIK! Kids 1 program, which contains no non-Dutch dialogue so it is perfect for younger children. Affirmative!

We’re also bringing back the tradition of the explicateur twist with our KLIK! Kids 2 program which will be dubbed live by animator and Donald Duck illustrator Remco Polman. Furthermore, our Nickelodeon Program features the finest animated films from the highly popular children’s network and our Mad Scientist Parade is also enjoyable for all ages.

There are also lots of activities in the foyer of Kriterion and your younglings can enjoy making animation with the Animation Machine, use our Doodle Cloth, enter in a Cotton Candy Molding Competition and many more frolicsome activities!”

“While The Secret of NIMH is somewhat intense, this beautiful classic animated feature from 1982 is a perfectly suited for somewhat older children. If you wish to visit the festival at another day, the KLIK! Mopti Competition is suited for older offspring as it contains some naughty bits. The other programs are likely to contain naughty bits, violence, rude words or a combination of these. KLIKBOT SIGNING Off…”

MONKEY C

Greetings. My name is Monkey C, the professor’s simian lab assistant. “Hold on!” you might say, “Monkeys can’t talk, right?” which is a correct assumption and also the reason I am typing this. But enough about me, the only thing you have to remember is that I’m somewhat of a party connoisseur. Since KLIK! has a reputation for excellent shin digs, I will let you in on the premier party experiences.

The Opening Ceremony is an informal affair where you can rub elbows or frottage in your own manner with the best and brightest from the world of animation while sipping a fizzy alcoholic beverage and nibbling finger food. While every night at KLIK! holds the possibility of wild parties and delightful depravity, the musical hootenanny on Friday that will precede the premiere of the excellent documentary Deconstructing Dad will surely be memorable. I’m looking forward to shaking my rotund badonkadonk to the Toons and Tunes of Nik Phelps and his entourage and after the Ren and Stimpy Tribute Night, how can the evening not end in debauchery?

The Award Ceremony on Saturday will provide many occasions to raise (and drain) one’s glass and the subsequent festivities will surely give ample opportunity to hook up with an attractive person of the gender of your choice.

On Sunday, we bid the festival adieu with the customary Closing Borrel. I hope to make your acquaintance at the festival!
